Through the night

Cold station

Awaits

Vishnu Mathur: Vishnu (Swaroop) Mathur. I have graduated in film direction course from the ‘Film & Television Institute of India’, Pune in 1970.As an active member of the ,Indian New Wave Cinema, movement I have worked on several film projects before directing my feature film ‘Pahala Adhyay’ in Hindi in 1981. I have since produced and directed about forty short and documentary films as an independent filmmaker. I have also worked as Director with the Films Division of India from 1975 to 1978. I have been working with my wife Dr.C.S Lakshmi.( Ambai) for my scripts and have directed films for her NGO. ‘SPARROW’ (Sound and Picture Archives For Research On Women). I am one of the founding member of GRAFTII an alumni association of FTII Pune and also co-founder of the ‘Forum For Better Cinema’. I have also written and directed the play ‘Performing Lal Ded’ on the life of the legendary saint of Kashmir. I have been a guest lecturer at the FTII and have conducted many workshops on cinema for many other educational institutions. I paint and write poetry whenever inspired to do so.
